BED love to listen to some amazing tunes in the office, with Zak being our very own DJ. Every now and then, when one of the Deers need to get in to the zone, the earphones go in and the personal Spotify playlists will be blasted through their ears.
This week we all had a mooch through the ‘Spotify – Year in Music’ website to see how each of our stats stood for 2014. There were some very interesting (and some worrying…) results, but the best part of it all, was the site itself! The collective number of minutes of listening to music racked up by the Deers reached just under 200,000 for the year! If our calculations are correct… that’s a whole 140 days of music!
We adore the slider on the homepage with the video background and simple colours used. The whole page has great functionality and a smooth responsive design. Once you pass the homepage and in to your own statistics, the design continues to please. We are a huge fan of flat design and this website is a perfect example. Nice clean lines and bold colours keeping the design minimal and modern! The dynamic filtering on the images, especially for the ‘Top Artist by Season’ section, keeps the colour palette bold and simplistic.
Share functions for all sections help spread the word of ‘Year in Music’ and also your fantastic taste in music. As you would expect from my summary pictured below, the boys in the office were not too impressed by my revelation of my taste in music.
Using the data from your last year of listening, the site also allows you to create a playlist of your ‘Top 100 from 2014’ or creates a whole new playlist, ‘Play it Forward’, which is based around similar artists to your usual collection. This helps you discover new artists and some of the best songs to start 2015 with! We have had Ben’s ‘Play it Forward’ playlist on this afternoon… some would describe it ‘questionable’ as far as his taste in music goes.
The results have confirmed to us and reminded us why we trust Zak to provide us with our everyday playlist… #doyouwanttobuildasnowman?
